SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. OFFICIATING: Pastor Ken Smith VISITATION: 11:00 a.m. to service time on Monday, July 7, at the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes cremation will follow the services. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Pregnancy Care Center located at 2420 7th St. Columbus, IN. 47201. Wilburn J. Bilbrey, 84, of Hawcreek Blvd, died at 3:00 a.m., July 4th, at his home. Wilburn was born April 30, 1930 in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, the son of Lanze and Opal Mae Price Bennett. He married Delores Patricia Pryor on October 15, 1949. Wilburn, born W.J. Bilbrey moved to Columbus in his late teens. He was employed at Stadler Packing Company for 35 years and a founding member of the Brown County Community Church at Helmsburg, IN. His children said they knew all their lives that they were lucky kids to have a dad like W.J. Bilbrey. Survivors include a son, Jim (Cindy) Bilbrey of Columbus; daughters, Carol (Ken) Firman of New Hampshire; Sheila (Patti) Hammond of Indianapolis; Julie (James) Miller of Bloomington; brothers, Grady Bilbrey of Red Boiling Spring, TN.; Bobby Bilbrey of Greenwood, IN.; sisters, Judy Wilham of Greenwood, IN.; Mildred Copas, Ona Pryor, Nina Kirby and Willa Dean Ferguson all of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. He had 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grand daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Carlos Bilbrey; sisters, Goldie Coons, Wilma Raffauf, Ella May Cherry.






Wilburn was very special. I remember working with him at Columbus Hardware. He was always quiet about things and very caring. He will be missed by our family.
