Cox Sr., 79, of Dawnshire Drive, died at 8:11 p.m. May 4, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Marlin was born December 3, 1934, in Acton, Indiana, the son of Ralph and Flossie Hilderbrand Cox. He married Lily Poliahu August 30, 1955. Raised on a farm, he was employed at Cummins Engine Company for 28 years and was a U.S. Army veteran who fought in the Korean War. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling and pitching horse shoes. Marlin was a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved listening to his children sing. Survivors include his sons, Jerry Wayne (Diane) Cox and Marlin Wayne (Cindy) Cox Jr., all of Columbus, and Carey Wayne (Susie) Cox, of Edinburgh; daughters, Linda L. (Rick) Roberts, Anita A. (Mike) Brooks, Marlene L. (Kyle) Huckaby and Kim L. (Steve) Hyden, all of Columbus; brothers, Clarence (Sheila) Cox of Columbus and Ralph (Dee) Cox of Ohio; along with 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Marlin was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, daughter Leah R. Talkington, and brothers Jim Cox and Bill Cox.
