FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Tennyson officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Amelia "Mickie" Jane Yates, 90, of Ohio Street, died at 10:35 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Spencer on February 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Leo Milton and Lucy Smith Kelley. She married Albert Allen Yates on August 15, 1944, and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1993. Mickie was a member of Chapel of the Good Shepherd Church in Flat Rock and Mill Race Center. She participated in several activities at Eastside Community Center and was involved with the Grandparents Mentoring Program at Children, Inc. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, making quilts, babysitting and helping families. Mickie is survived by her sons, Boyd Yates of Edinburgh and Stanley (Alice) Yates of Columbus; a daughter, Connie Frazier of Columbus; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a brother, Leo Kelley Jr.; and sisters, Julia Yates and Augusta Snyder.

  1. Stanley, we were saddened to hear about your mom. We are in Florida or we would be there for the viewing and funeral. She sure was a wonderful lady and was always so giving. She was so good to us and our children. She had such a wonderful smile and laugh. We treasure our memories of her and especially her friendship with Aunt Amy. Shelby and Peggy

  2. We were neighbors of Mickey and Albert-Dorothy Smoot & Cindy Beam for several years. They were the best neighbors that anyone could have and they would always help and do what they could to help.We had some very good times like when the duck got caught in the fireplace, and when we swam at the pool. We still think of them both and their family even now, and we will miss Mickey very much.
