Kenneth R. Smith, 75, of Flintwood Drive, died at 2:02 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at his home. A minister and pastor at Waymansville for many years, he was a member of Hope Community Church. He was a volunteer fireman with Columbus Township Fire Department for several years and enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as racing, camping and motorcycles. Born in Celina, Tenn., April 6, 1938, Rev. Smith was the son of Issac S. Smith and Sally Esther Trobaugh Smith. He married Elizabeth L. "Betty" Shields Dec. 17, 1956. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffery L. Smith of Noblesville, IN; daughters, Brenda S. (William Jr.) Lewis, Linda L. Meranda, and Kimberly C. (fiance, Roger Hays) Smith, all of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Amanda Perry, Brandy McCurdy, Alesha Cravens, Monica Hays, and Ashley Kelsay; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Loretta R. Hays; sisters, Willadean Carver and Josephine Cherry; and grandchildren, Roger Hays II and Bridget Wall.
