SERVICES: MEMORIAL SERVICE: Will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifty with Pastor Douglas Bauman officiating. A meal at the church will follow the service. CALLING: Will be from 4:30 until service time Wednesday at the church. PRIVATE BURIAL: Will be at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church,Clifty Cemetery. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to "Making Missions Possible", St. Paul Clifty Building Fund or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Donald K. Nolting, 77, of Clover Court, died at 9:52 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Donald was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifty, where he had served as President. He was a very active church member, held many leadership positions and supported many activities within the congregation during his lifetime. Donald served in the Indiana National Guard from May 21, 1955, until May 20, 1958 and the U.S. Army Corps (reserves) from May 21, 1958 until May 31, 1963. He liked fishing and being around the water. He was a very outgoing person and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, but most of all, he valued time spent with his family. Donald was born July 15, 1936, in Columbus, the son of Victor Nolting and Dorothea (Nolting) Nolting. He married Lucille Burbrink Sept. 29, 1957. Survivors include his wife of 56 years; sons, Brent (Sharon) Nolting of Franklin, Keith (Nickie) Nolting and Curtis (Meg) Nolting, both of Columbus; daughters, Sheila (Dave) Toth of St. Joseph, Mich., and Nina (Tim) Loesch of Columbus; grandchildren, David (Leyla) Toth, Ryan Toth, Victor and Jackson Nolting, Sarah Loesch, Nate and Max Nolting. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dalene Noblitt, and a daughter-in-law, Patty Phillips-Nolting.

What a difference one good man makes. You may not see or hear of each kindness, but a good man’s life weaves each act into a tapestry that we call a ‘good life’. And when we lose that man, we feel the loss not of the individual kindnesses but of the man. Instead of being sad, we should celebrate his influence on other people and the kindnesses that they perform for long past his passing. His acts are magnified in theirs until a ripple effect occurs. We feel the loss of the man, but celebrate his good life and lasting memory.
