SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Monday January 13, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home OFFICIATING CLERGY: Brian Campbell FINAL RESTING PLACE: Garland Brook Cemetery VISITATION: 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Muscular Dystrophy Association. Michael L. Jones, 55, of Waycross Drive, died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at his home. Mike graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Paramedics in 1985 and retired from the City of New Castle as an emergency paramedic. He was also an Army veteran of Desert Storm and was previously employed with the Department of Defense. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping and fishing. He loved music. Born in Columbus Oct. 26, 1958, Mike was the son of Theodore A. Jones and Betty L. Cheek Jones. He is survived by his mother, of Columbus; sons, Christopher and Joshua, both of Columbus, Nicholas T. (Patra) Jones of Columbus, Brandon K. Jones of Columbus, and Aaron M. Jones of New Castle, IN; a daughter, Heather R. (Stephen) Barnard of Columbus, IN; brothers, Steven R. (Lori) Jones of Richmond, IN, and Kevin D. Jones of Columbus; sisters, Kimberly S. (Dan) Hedrick and Anita J. (Craig) Carter, both of Columbus; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Michael…He who is like God Jones …Yaweh is Gracious…He has a part of my heart that will always be his….I will love him always, and cherish the memories I have that are good….May God strengthen all of you as you mourn the loss of a very special man….until we are all reunited again in heaven…I was there in my heart….and I love you all dearly….

  4. I send my deepest condolencences for your loss of Mike. I haven’t seen him for years but I remember him like it was yesterday. We were all good friends back then. I don’t know if you all remember me, Steve probably would. I was married to David Black years ago. I am sorry I missed the funeral. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Well anyone who knows me knows what Mike ment to me. I once was really crazy about him. Betty,Steve,Sue,Kevin and Anita, Sorry I didn’t come to the service, had I known I sure would have been there. Don’t know if any of you knew or not but Mike and I had been talking some for the last couple of years. You know he was my first love. I know he was only interested in me as a friend and I grew to know that and to cherish his and all of you as really good friends, like family. I am so sorry for his passing and hope someone will contact me. He will be missed weather he knew that or not. Loved him bunches and all of you Kim Devers Meek

  6. Just learned of Mike’s passing. Lot’s of great memories with him, Linda and Aaron up in Michigan. He enjoyed the outdoors so much. God Bless all!
