A 1946 graduate of Herrin High School in Herrin, IL, Paul served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1985 after 38 years with American General Finance and Loan where he was a manager. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church, a 60-year member of St. John's Masonic Lodge in Columbus, a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, a member of High Twelve Club, a charter member of Columbus Club, and a member of Mill Race Center and American Legion Post 777. He also was an Honorable Colonel with the Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was formerly active in Elder Hostel, traveling to 15 destinations and hosting many Elder Hostels in Columbus with his wife. Paul was also a 15-year volunteer with Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. He enjoyed gardening, was an avid fisherman and had traveled to all 50 states. He had a deep love for all of his grandchildren. Born in Herrin, IL, Jan. 26, 1928, Paul was the son of Marion Kirk and Stella Cox Kirk. He married Helen Lenkutis June 19, 1949. She preceded him in death Feb. 20, 2010. Survivors include a son, Randy (Pam) Kirk, Richmond, IN; daughters, Susan (Archie) James, Fort Wayne, IN, and Nancy (David) Kiser, Greenfield, IN; grandchildren, Benjamin James, Paul James, Katie Kirk, Kendall Kirk, Rylen Kirk, Kaelyn (Ryan) Roberts, and Lauren Kiser; a great-grandson, Joshua Williams; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Almeda Sanders, Irene Childers, Ellade Satterfield, and Jewell Kirk; a brother, Lowell Woodrow Kirk; and a grandson, Brady Len Kirk.
