I will always miss your laugh and care free style. You always loved me as though I was your own child. Never really considered you my Aunt but more like a second mother. My favorite memories will always be visiting you in TN and the many wonderful days I spent under your roof as a child. Thank you Aunt Caroline for everything. I love you and will never forget you!

So sorry to hear of her passing. She was a kind hearted classmate of mine at Indiana Academy so many years ago. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers to the Duty family.. Stay strong.. John let me know if you need anything bro… -Mike-

Carolyn was like a second mother to me. Her son John and I have been best friends since second grade. She will be missed by all. I love you Carolyn.
-
sI went to Junior High School with Carolyn when she lived in Oolitic, Indiana. She was a sweet and lovely person, quiet and shy in those days, but everyone loved her. After she moved away I lost track of her. In recent years, I’d often thought of her and wondered where she lived, how she had done. I wish I could have known she was still so close, I’d have loved to have talked to her one more time, I’m honored to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God Bless all of you.
-
I knew your mom at Indiana Academy – she was always so kind and thoughtful.
Sorry you had to lose her so early. -
I am sorry that you had to leave us so soon. I love you Carolyn. You will never be forgotten.

Carolyn was a special person in my life. I met her at Andrews University and will not forget all the good times we shared. I will miss her and her warm and gracious personalty. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

My precious best friend ! This page isn’t big enough to express how very much i love her and have enjoyed her as my best friend. We have laughed and cried together and now I cry alone. A part of my being left right along with Carolyn. I am so very thankful for the 2 weeks I had with her in March…I laid beside her in her bed and all i could do was wish for a peaceful exit from this life as we know it. I will forever be thankful to Marilyn and John for the care given to my sweet Carolyn. No one could have done a better job of letting her know that she was truly loved and cared for. I love her so much and will miss her every minute of every day. Knowing in all these years of living in seperate states that all i had to do was call…she was always there for me ! I love you Carolyn and wish for you an eternal peaceful rest !

My thoughts are with you all. I’m honored that I was able to know her. I’m reminded of her every time I use my Keepset bags. She was amazing and so loving.

John, Tabitha and Marilyn,
Carolyn is so beautiful, she always has been and her memory always will be. She was a bright spirit and always gave her best. I will miss my dear friend. Love you. -
Carolyn & I went to elementary school together. My mother, Lucy Lutz, passed away a few years ago & I appreciated her thoughtfulness in coming to the viewing as it’d been years since we’d seen each other. Did connect on FB and I treasure that.
-
To the family – I’m so sorry for your loss. I pray that God holds you in the palms of his hands and comforts you in the days ahead. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to care for Carolyn during her last days here on Earth.

To John and Tab and family. We are deeply saddened at the loss of your mom. I met your mom twice… and she was very friendly and super nice to talk to. I don’t know her very well, but I know her son. John, you are one of my best friends. The friend on one hand that you can count on. You got that from your mom I am sure. I know she was a great mom because I know you. I am here for you always, and I know you are for me as well.
I love you buddy and always will. Your friend always… Bill -

JOHN, TAB JOANNA AND AUNT MARILYN;
JUST REFLECTING ON CAROLYN’S PASSING THIS BIBLE VERSE JUST POPPED IN MY HEAD WHILE I WAS IN THE BATH TUB. THESE WORDS WERE USED BY JESUS TO COMFORT HIS DISCIPLES BEFORE HIS CRUXIFICION.
“LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED:YE BELIEVE IN GOD BELIEVE ALSO IN ME. IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE ARE MANY MANSIONS: IF IT WERE NOT SO, I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU. I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU. AND IF I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU, I WILL COME AGAIN AND RECEIVE YOU TO MYSELF; THAT WHERE I AM , THERE YE MAY BE ALSO. AND WHITHER I GO YE KNOW, AND THE WAY YOU KNOW.
JOHN 14:1-4
GODSPEED CAROLYN I KNOW THAT YOU WILL FIND YOUR MANSION.
-
I knew Carolyn at Indiana Academy but had not seen her for many years. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. What a wonderful day it will be when Jesus comes again and calls our loved ones and friends out of their graves and there is no more death or dying. May that day come soon!

John, Tabitha, & Marilyn,
So sorry for your loss. It is difficult to put in to words what she meant to me, being her sister-in-law for 37 years. I enjoyed and loved her so much. She embraced life and John & Joanna were the lights of her life. Thank you, Carolyn, for the love & laughter and being so special. May you rest in peace sweet lady. -
Carolyn, was a special, caring Wonderful Lady and inspirational to all those that knew her. She will be sadly missed. John, Tab we love and miss you and are praying for you though this time of sorrow.
-
Carolyn was one of the most beautiful people I ever knew – inside and out. Her friendship and love will never be forgotten. I look forward to our Indiana Academy reunion in Heaven, where I can once again hug her.
-
I am saddened to hear of her passing. She was a really neat lady and I enjoyed working with her. Our hearts go out to you.
-
Today I am thankful for this beautiful and courageous lady that has been a part of my life for almost 40 years. She was my aunt by marriage, but more importantly, she was my dear friend. It is quite ironic that Aunt Carolyn began her life in Columbus, Indiana and ended it there as well, because her journey through this life took her to many other places around the country. Reflecting, looking back through photos and reminiscing these past few days have brought back so many wonderful memories and some painful ones too.
Carolyn adopted two beautiful children, John and Joanna, and gave them both an incredible life like no one else could. John is such an amazing man. He has stood beside her every step of the way and is truly a reflection of his mother?s character. I know this is so very hard for him and my heart aches for him. (I want you to know, John that I am here for you for whatever you need.) No words can express how proud Aunt Carolyn is of John. I continue to pray for Joanna, but mostly I so admire and respect that way Aunt Carolyn has persevered these last ten+ years in spite of being abandon by her beautiful daughter. I know the pain has been intolerable but she continued to forgive her and love Joanna to her dying day.
Aunt Carolyn was full of life and laughter, always cheerful and positive. She could tell a story better than anyone I know and make it so funny; you would laugh until you cried. She walked through these past 2+ years with so much strength and such a positive attitude, laughing and witty until just the last few days when she could no longer speak. She always found a reason to be grateful especially for her dear sister Marilyn who has taken the last two years of her life to walk with Carolyn though this dreadful disease of pancreatic cancer. God bless you Marilyn.
So as I know Carolyn would want, I will celebrate and rejoice her life for she has taught me so much about how to live and also how to die. I love you Aunt Carolyn more than you know. -
For John: The Memorial Video is beautiful…thank you for sharing. Your Mother was holding you in many of the pictures and I just wanted to let you know that she is still holding you…and will hold you for the remainder of YOUR life ! You were HER life John and all she would want is for you to live your life through her. I love you and will always be here for you !
-
I am proud to proclaim Carolyn my friend. She not only always had a smile and the ability to make you feel deeply cared about. She was truly genuine in her feelings and actions. I was so looking forward to seeing her at our reunion at IA for our 50th, but now will get to see her in our greatest reunion. She will be always missed but never replaced.

I am sorry to hear of Carolyn’s passing. I had the opportunity to work with her for a short time & was blessed to have known her. ?She was truly a joy to be around and such a sweet lady. I know she was very proud of her family & often talked of her son. My thoughts & prayers are with you all.

Don’t we all want to “make a difference”? Carolyn’s life did make a difference, in high school, in her community, in her family ….and in the world. I was blessed to have been her friend.

I went to church with Carolyn in Bedford, her mom and my mom were best of friends and so were we. I also lost track of her thro the years, but have fond memories of our times together. Wish we could have gotten together to share old times again, but we will meet in heaven. I am very saddened by your passing. Loved you my dear beautiful friend.

I am writing this letter as one of the lucky ones, privileged to have had Carolyn in my life. Although her time was cut too short, I am still one of the luckiest, having her as my best friend for more than 40 years. We laughed. We cried. We did it all. I am now entering a new era where I have to figure out, ” What would Carolyn say”. I think of her always and will carry her in my heart forever.

U will be dearly missed aunt carolyn. I LOVE U.
