SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. April 11, 2013 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home VISITATION: 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Garland Brook Cemetery Cary A. "Dodie" Owsley, 49, of Roosevelt Street, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home. Cary formerly worked for his grandfather at Kirt's Trucking Company and had also worked at Columbus Container Trucking. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed doing mechanics and carpentry. Born in Indianapolis January 8, 1964, Cary was the son of George Owsley and Rosemary Kirts Owsley Pennybaker. He married Lisa Waltz April 24, 2010. Survivors include his wife; his mother, of Columbus, IN; a son, Logan Owsley, Columbus, IN; a stepson, Dustin Freeze, Columbus, IN; a niece and a nephew, Chaley Rose Jackson and Charles Chase Jackson; and a sister, Cheryl Owsley Jackson, Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and beloved grandparents, Ruth and Albert Kirts.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Cheryl , Ms. Rose and the entire Owsley, Jackson and Pennybaker families. Dodie wore several hats, Son, Brother, Dad, Husband, Uncle and Friend just to name a few; may God embrace each of you in his loving arms and engulf you with peace and comfort during your time of grievance. I watched the memorial video and it was a beautiful tribute.

  11. I have known Dodie all his life, and I am so sorry this has happened. He lived just behind me when he was little, and I saw him most every day. Again, I am so sorry.

  18. I am so sad to just hear of cary passing. Cary was like a big brother to me all through junior high and high school. I have so many great memories of Cary. I will miss him.
