Howard C. Silcox, 65, of Indianapolis, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Indianapolis. Howard was a former deputy sheriff in Tennessee and did masonry work. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and volunteered to serve three tours in Vietnam. After moving to the Indianapolis area in 1987, he became a carpenter and home builder. Howard was a member of the House of Victory Church in Southport. He loved playing his guitar, mimicking Jimmi Hendrix by playing his right-handed guitar with his left hand. Howard was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. Born in Carthage, Tenn., Feb. 9, 1948, Mr. Silcox was the son of Rucker D. Silcox and Ruby Mazille Silcox. He married Dianna C. Smith June 24, 1988. She survives. Also surviving are sons, Michael Silcox of Columbus, IN, John R. Gimbel Jr. and Bo (Tonya) Gimbel, all of Indianapolis; daughters, Stephanie Silcox-Castro of Indianapolis, IN, Michelle (Eddie Jr.) Carr and Renea (Richard Lawrence) Silcox, all of Indianapolis; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one expected. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tiffanie Lynn Silcox.
