Hansel, 87, of North Vernon, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ky., on May 28, 1925, the son of the late Alonzo and Nancy Alice Cummins Hansel. He married Lola F. Johns on June 3, 1982. She survives. Jack attended Queensville Community Church. He lived his early life in Mt. Vernon, Ky. He served in the Army during WWII, a combat medic, and took part in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day. After the service, he moved to Plainfield, then to Morgan County, where he lived for 30 years. He moved to Jennings County in 1987. He retired from Crown Products, where he was an over the road truck driver. He and his wife had been in the evangelistic field as singers for over 20 years, serving in many southern states. He enjoyed flea marketing and singing southern gospel music. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Jack L. (Jackie) Hansel of Waxahachie, Texas, Dennis J. Hansel of Brandon, Fla., and Darrell J. (Debi) Hansel of Carmel; daughters, Jackie R. Weston of Bloomington, Rebecca A. Pugh of Mooresville, and Donna J. (Kennie) Morgan of Paragon; step-son, Gerald M. Bishop of Indianapolis ;23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bessie Mason of New Paris, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vickie L. Anderson; a son, Roland S. Hansel; brothers, Louis Hansel, Ben Hansel, Billie Hansel and Sam Hansel; sisters, Elizabeth Fredrick, Golda Marie Hansel, Wanda M. Cummins and Lucille Henry.
