June Smith, 85, of South Brooks Street, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. June worked for several years in the cafeterias of Central Middle School and Clifty Creek Elementary School. She enjoyed spending time with family as well as attending church at Apostolic Bible Church and First Baptist Church of Taylorsville. She loved gardening, especially indoor and outdoor flowers, and enjoyed going to the casinos with her husband. Born in Columbus June 2, 1927, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of William Knight and Minnie Jane French Knight. She married Ray Smith Oct. 16, 1993. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Vicki Gilham of Petersville, Indiana, and Pam Jones of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Gilham, Misty Gilham, Carey Bryant, Crystal Davis and Joe Brooks; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren (June was looking forward to meeting a new great-great-grandchild in the immediate future); a nephew, Brian Bailey of Edinburgh, Indiana; a niece, Deanna "Tootie" Knight of Greenwood, Indiana; and a brother, Don (Bernice) Knight of Edinburgh, Indiana. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jake Hayes and Jack Jones; her parents; a great-grandchild; brothers, Harry Jones and Joe Knight; sisters, Evelyn Horning and Ruth Holaquist; and a niece, Jackie Knight
