SERVICES: A memorial service will be conducted Friday, October 19, 2012 at 8 p.m., at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with calling from 4 p.m. until service time. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201. Harold E. Armstrong, 59, of North County Road 250E, Clifford, died at 2:34 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at his home. Harold graduated from St. Peter's Lutheran School in 1968 and Hauser High School in 1972. He retired from Cummins Inc. where he worked 37 years. He led a full life and loved spending time with his family and friends, always having an open door to all, providing a good meal, a place to stay and a friend for life. Vacations to Tennessee and his "little buddy" Asher, his four-legged kid, held a piece of his heart. His greatest passions were his family, dear friends and his love for dirt-track racing. Much of his heart and soul was invested in building racing motors and race cars. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Harold had a knack for re-purposing broken items and giving them renewed life. We find comfort in knowing he, too, has new life. Born March 10, 1953, in Bartholomew County, Harold was the son of the late John E. Armstrong and Carolyn Waldkoetter Armstrong. He married Sandra Rae Simpson in June 1972. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Gary Armstrong, Clifford, IN; a daughter, Jennifer Weber, Edinburgh, IN; grandchildren, Jon, Kylee, Cassandra, Ashlee and Chelci, of Clifford, IN; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Kathi) Armstrong, Columbus, IN; sisters, Sharon (Dave) Hayes, Columbus, IN, and Becky (Richard) Robinson, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Love U guys.~~~~~Angie, Craig, Cade, & Kevin Whittington

  2. Hey Jennifer, I am very sorry to hear about your dad. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Stephanie.

  3. Harold was my second cousin (my grandmother was Selma Carter and my parents are Bill and Doris Carter. I was looking through family slides and found one of Harold on his confirmation day. Even though I vaguely remember that day since I am 2 years younger, I do remember Harold very well.

  4. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family of Harold. It has been many years since I have seen Harold..But he has a very vivid part of my childhood memories at Grandma’s farm..Playing in the barn, in the hay..chasing the chickens and, yea, the big boys, Harold, Fred and Ed all picked on the little girl with braids :)who just wanted to play in their games ! I know Ed asked me about Harold many times..now they are both gone..God Bless you all my family..whether I know you or not ! Feel free to contact me..love to you all. your cousin carol

  5. Sandy and family members, my deepest sympathies to you all. You have been in my daily prayers for quite some time now and I’ll continue to pray for comfort, peace and strength to get through the rough times ahead. Harold was truly memorable as my cousin and I have some great childhood memories. God bless you. Kim and Katie George

  6. May God give you all peace in knowing that Harold is now in His Hands and renewed. You all are in my thoughts and prayers always. If there is anything I can do please let me know. Blessings, Pam Jones (Crystal’s mom)

  7. Sharon and David, My sincere condolences for the loss of Harold. Wow, so many great memories I can picture of the past. John and I loved going and visiting them especially on Christmas Eve and many other times. He was one strong man. He sure could tell any story of the past or present and have you rolling till your stomach hurt. John loved him so much. We will miss him so much but he suffered for too long and now he is fishing with John and eating that good home cooked meal with Carolyn. Give my love to Becky, Sandy and Jonathon and all the family. All my Love, Kim

  8. To family – sincerest expressions of concern are extended to each of you from our household. Though not privileged to know Harold, Fred and Kathi have always been there for us when needed. John Wm. Roberts & Thomas A. Weintraut, Jr.

  9. Sandy, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

  10. Sharon, Fred, and Becky, I was so sorry to hear about Harold’s passing. My prayers go out to his wife and entire Family.
