FUNERAL: Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Day Sr. officiating. VISITATION: 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to The Bible Church, 3010 10th St. Columbus, IN 47201 or to the very worthy "Veterans House" of Indianapolis, IN. Gerald W. "Jerry" Henry, 69, of 23rd street, died at 11:43 a.m. October 13, 2012 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Henry was born in Columbus, November 1, 1942, the son of Gilbert Lee Henry and Maxine Ruth Whittington Henry. He retired from Sacoma International Inc. Edinburgh, IN. in 2004. After retirement he spent many enjoyable years repairing computers. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge for more than 40 years. He spent time as Past Master of his local lodge and as Past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star. His favorite time spent was quality time with his family, especially the very young ones. He loved the couple of months he spent each winter in Ruskin, FL renewing those more mature family ties, eating out and Flea Markets. He also enjoyed attending his Air Force reunions and lunches among good friends. Jerry spent several years in Small Loan Financing and several years in Production Management and Project Management. Survivors include: Wife, Cheryl; a son, Jerry (Anne) North Vernon; Stepsons, Bobbie Hallgarth (Janet) Fountaintown; Rudy Hallgarth (Rita) Knightstown; Paul Hallgarth Indianapolis and Stepdaughter, Amy Holzeard (Carry) Indianapolis; Other survivors include: Mother and step-father, Maxine and Cecil Jackson, Columbus; a sister, Barbara Wilkerson (Skip) Greenwood; a half brother, Rick, Columbus; a half sister, Kathy Rudd (Larry) Taylorsville and a step sister, Patty Whittington, Morristown. In addition to 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father Gilbert, step mother, Florence and a cousin, Nickolas Glasson, Cedar Key Florida.

  1. Cheryl – I am so sorry for your loss. Jerry was an incredible person whom I have so many wonderful memories. He was a very kind & generous person to not only me but to my entire family!! I will never forget him taking my son when he was little to Caufield’s so he could teach him some magic tricks!! My prayers are with all of you. Love, Lisa

  9. It was a blessing that we met you both at the Veterans House in Indy. I think we gave each some support. We have only known you and Jerry a short time but seems like we have known you a life time. We will miss Jerry very much, and we will keep in touch with you cheryl. Hopefully we will get to see you again. You are in our hearts and thoughts. On a lighter note, we still feel bad about you and Jerry getting locked out side all night. Jack sends love to you “Connie”. Our heart and prayers are with you on this sad day, ande you will be in our hearts forever.

  10. Cheryl you are in our hearts and prayers today. Wish we could have made it over there for Jerry but timing was not right. We have not known you and Jerry very long but seems like a life time. Jerry will be missed. We home you can find the strength and support to get throug this. We will never forget when you got locked out at the VA House. Of all the nights for Jackie to sleep through the night. Then you were more concerned about Jackie more than yourselfs. But that are the type of people you are. Our thoughts are with you “Connie”.
