SERVICES: An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, followed immediately by a funeral service, with Dan Wallace and Jimmy Coyle officiating. VISITATION: Calling will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201, or First Christian Church, 531 Fifth St., Columbus, IN 47201. Ruth Carol Franz, 95, of Hope, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church and Clifford Eastern Star. Born in Bartholomew County Dec. 25, 1916, Mrs. Franz was the daughter of Charles Ross and Georgia Aiken Ross. She married Willie J. Franz Oct. 1, 1938. He preceded her in death April 14, 1994. Survivors include a son, Richard (Yvonne) Franz of Columbus, IN; a daughter, Sue (James M.) Coyle of Columbus, IN; brothers, Charles "Taylor" (Theresa) Ross and Robert (Janice) Ross, both of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Stacey Fields of Columbus, IN, Traci Durant of Brighton, CO, and Jimmy (Jenny) Coyle of Springfield, IL; great-grandchildren, Dakota Fields, Kaylene Fields, Derek Sands, Kyle Sands, James W. Coyle and Micah Coyle, due in December; and a sister-in-law, Rachel Ross of Greensburg, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Louis Ross; and sisters, Mary Meier and Martha Robinette.
