State St., Columbus, IN 47201. Max Nolting of Elizabethtown passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Max was born August 12, 1930, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Marcus and Elsie (Schumacher) Nolting. On January 30, 1955, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesville, he married Catherine Burbrink. Max was a farmer and a lifelong member of St. Paul (Clifty) Lutheran Church where he served on many different boards over the years, most recently on the cemetery board. He served in the U.S. Air Force and for 13 years was a director of the Federal Land Bank Association. He was a member of the American Legion. Max enjoyed music and sang with the Columbus Chordsman Barbershop group for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Virginia Burbrink and Elizabeth Cline, and a brother, Morris Lee Nolting. Max is survived by his wife Catherine; children, Bruce K. (Bonnie) Nolting, Gail Snyder and Lee Ann (Kevin) Sherry; grandchildren, Albert (Emily) Nolting, Tyler Nolting, Rachel (Chad) Nolting-Fohne, Rebekah Nolting, Casey Snyder, David Sherry, Blake Sherry and Chandler Sherry; a brother, Marcus Nolting; and sisters, Rosalyn Lanham and Carol (Kenneth) Kiel.

  2. I will miss Max always.my mom and dad ,spent a lot of good times with them,us kids also! First time I shot a gun was with my Dad on Their farm!Max and my Dad went to northern in. To get asparagus starts – years ago. It goes on and on. Catherine is one of my Mom’s best friend cousins! Boy,those were the best days!

  5. Bruce & Bonnie, Just know you have an extended family who will always be there to listen, understand, laugh, and cry with you. God puts no more on you than you can bear. At this time, it seems like an impossible burden to bear. Just remember, the strength of our parents gives us the strength the persevere. We both have walked the path you walk now! Just know, you don’t have to walk this path alone! We love you and the entire Nolting immediate and extended family!
