Dean Emerson, 75, of West Lowell Road, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Simon Cancer Center at the Indiana University Medical Center. Born in Casey County, Ky., Sept. 18, 1936, Mr. Emerson was the son of Wesley and Ethel Delp Emerson. He married Susan K. Murphy March 23, 1989. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tony (Tammy) Murphy of Columbus, IN; daughters, Tammy (Steve) Fannin of Columbus, IN, and Teri Jackson of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Tory, Teal and Thorn Murphy, Sydnee Jackson and Micah (Adam) Thompson; a great-grandchild, Emerson Phillip Thompson; brothers, Wayne (Clara) Emerson of Columbus, IN, and Frank (Patricia) Emerson of Columbus, IN; nieces, Lora Todd of Greenwood, IN, and Molly Capo of Downers Grove, IL; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Phil Jackson; and nephews, Rick and Randy Emerson. For many years, Dean was a heavy equipment operator and supervisor for Milestone, which was formerly known as Meshberger and CUI. He loved gardening as well as hunting and fishing and also loved spending time with his friends and family. Dean ,was a unique, compassion man lived by him for 20 years.he was always friendly , he became like a father to JOHN,if I could not find ,John ,he would be on the fence line talking to Dean, I will miss seeing that.If you really knew him ,you had to love him ,he was one of a kind! I have to say Dean will be missed dearly, I have to say I was blessed to have known and lived next door to such a great man. In my 20 years of knowing Dean he became like a grandpa to me and my kiddos..He was one of my first visitors when I had my son Calyx.I will miss his green beans every summer..his were always the best. Safety visits to Dean’s jobs were always the best to here at Milestone. He’d tell you like it was. My favorite is when I was teaching CPR and he had to blow in the dummy for 3 minutes…after 30 seconds he said either pass me or have someone standing by to give me CPR. He was top notch.
Just wanted to say that my brother is unable to attend or sign the guess book for Dean as he is in the hospital in Cinti with newmonia. He also was so sorry to hear the news about Dean.
