Doris Rose Hartman Giggy, 84, of Central Avenue, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at her home. Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She was raised in Bakersfield, CA, and had lived in Columbus since 1992, moving here from Oxnard, CA. She was a member of the Parkside Court family. Born in Mojave Desert, Calif., Sept. 27, 1927, Mrs. Giggy was the daughter of Simon Vernon and Mary Baucker Hartman. She married Lorin Giggy Nov. 22, 1947. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1988. Survivors include sons, Bruce W. (Julie) Giggy of Columbus, IN, and James Arthur Monet of Gilbert, AZ; daughters, Deborah Giggy of Ventura, CA, Cindy (Ben) Burkhart of Ventura, CA, and Kathy (Jim) Holmes of Oxnard, CA; a brother, Floyd Hartman of Bakersfield, CA; and a sister, Betty Sanders of Marrietta, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A gathering of friends is planned in Bakersfield. Burial will be at a later date.
