Bobby L. James, 74, of Hope, died at 5:57 a.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012, at his home. Bobby retired from Arvin Industries after 47 years of service. He loved playing and listening to bluegrass music and going to garage sales. He always made time to go to Scooter's Restaurant, loved home cooked meals and spending time with his family. He lived to make anyone he met remember him with a warm feeling and a smile, but above all things was the love he had for his family. Born in Metcalfe County, Ky., April 4, 1937, Mr. James was the son of Venus James and Goldie Medley James. He married Alberta Sue Miracle March 24, 1956. Survivors include his wife; sons, Danny (Lisa) James of Clifford, IN, Curtis James of Columbus, IN, Tony (Amber) James of Columbus, IN, and Shawn (Tessa) James of Columbus, IN; daughters, Connie Sue (Greg) Delay of Seymour, IN, Penny Minor of Hope, IN, and Dustie Dawn (Brian) Blanton of North Vernon, IN; brothers, Billy Joe James of Glasgow, KY, Albert James of Bowling Green, KY, and Donny James of Glasgow, KY; sisters, Nola Duckworth of Glasgow, KY, and Betty Miller of Roachdale, IN; 29 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Lee James; a brother, Wendell James; and sisters, Melinda James, Mageline Elmore, Dorothy Estess, Lougine Clark and Kathleen Chambers. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be noon Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Lighthouse Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, 2282 Indiana Ave., with Pastor Steve Allman officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

  8. I just heard about Bobby’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I am Bobby’s cousin from Illinois. Venus was my dad’s brother Bern. I always liked Bobby, I guess the last time I saw him was at Uncle Venus’s funeral. Again I am so sorry for his passing.

  11. When I think of Uncle Bobby my memories is long and clear-I will always remember his humor playfulness and the warmth of his smile. Him and the boys remind me of Robin Hood and the merry men & of course they would argue about who was Robin Hood.
