Donald Clyde Morris, 81, passed on in the early morning hours of February 26, 2012 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, February 1, 1931 to the late Harve and Dora (McDaniel) Morris, the youngest of fifteen children. He married Sallie Spencer of Perry County Kentucky in 1956. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Bremerton. Don loved the outdoors, fishing and especially deer hunting. He loved animals and always had companion dogs and cats, taking in and caring for every stray tossed aside by others. He was instrumental in establishing the Bartholomew County Humane Society. He liked to garden and always took pride in having a bountiful garden. Don retired from Cummins Engine Company where he was a tool and die maker. Above all else, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his great granddaughter Vanessa Nguema Morris He is survived by his wife Sallie, sons, Ancil and Donald Duane (Shawna) Morris, daughters, Donna (Glen) Gordon, Dora (Dennis) Crider and Nancy Spencer-Morris. Don was always accompanied by his faithful companions, Pockets and Whiskers. SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 1, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home VISITATION: Wednesday 4 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home BURIAL: Ohio Chapel Cemetery CONTRIBUTIONS: Bartholomew County Humane Society, Little Seeds Preschool or Asbury United Methodist Church "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father'shouse are many rooms, if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You Know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him,"lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way. Jesus answered. " I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

To Sallie Morris, After reading about Don, it is clear that Don was a caring person and had compassion for even animals that needed caring.I felt compelled to share a comforting thought during your time of loss from the Bible. Jesus said in John 5:28,29 “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” What a nice thought to know that soon all those that we have lost will be brought back so we can be reunited.
