Russell Eugene Ritz, 66, of Eighth Street, died at 8:04 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, in Indianapolis. Mr. Ritz was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was self employed and enjoyed cooking, canoeing and NASCAR. He was a life member of Columbus Moose Family Center No. 398. Born in Columbus July 21, 1945, Mr. Ritz was the son of Earl L. Ritz and Loretta Henderson Ritz Burch. Mr. Ritz is survived by sisters, Janet Parton of Franklin, IN, and Betty Walls of Columbus, IN; nieces, Joanna Spaulding of West Chester, OH, Teresa Zeilinga, Ada Parton & Annette Parton, all of Franklin, IN; and nephews, Glenn Ritz of Franklin, IN, Jimmie Parton of Florida and Billy Parton of North Vernon, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, David Parton; and brothers-in-law, Larry Walls and Glenn Parton. FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Day Sr. officiating and military honors conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a Moose memorial service at 7:45 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service on Friday. BURIAL: Private inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Mooseheart, Moosehaven or Moose Charities.
