Mary M. Grossman, 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at 4:14 p.m. at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, Florida. Mary was born January 7, 1941, the daughter of Raymond J. and Irene G. Meyer, in Oxford, OH. She married Raphael M. Grossman on May 5, 1962, in Batesville, IN, and spent her adult life in Columbus IN. She is survived by her husband, Raphael, of Columbus; and her three daughters and their families: Lori Linton, husband Scott and son Rick (18) of Muncie; Lynn Phelps, husband Todd and son Jacob (8) of Muncie; and Leslie Farris, husband Derek and daughter Lauren (6) of Goshen. Additional survivors include her two sisters, Jo Ann Roberts of Fairfield, OH, and Shirley (Ann) Eaton of Napoleon, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruby Herrmann. Mary was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, family vacations, spending winters at her Florida home, and was a loyal fan of The Pacers and Tony Stewart Racing. She was a thoughtful friend and dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Throughout her life, Mary faced many health struggles with unmatched strength and determination and an unwavering positive attitude. She is an inspiration to all who knew her. FUNERAL: Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. VISITATION: 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to the St Bartholomew School, 1306 27th Street, Columbus, IN 47201.

A tremendous loss of such a wonderful, kind woman. Ray and Mary Grossman are the best neighbors anyone could hope for. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this trying time.
Lynn, my thoughts are with you. The legacy she leaves is in the children she raised…so I KNOW how wonderful she was, because of you! I am sorry for all the loss you all are feeling.
