Creel Robert Sprague, 86, of Road 275S, died at 10:46 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Sprague built or worked on hundreds of lakes in Bartholomew County and surrounding counties. He received his start in this industry thanks to the generosity of Q.G. Noblitt. As well as having a natural talent for designing beautiful lakes, he liked to fish and loved taking long walks on his property. He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. Born in Bartholomew County March 18, 1925, Mr. Sprague was the son of Elias Benjamin and Lena Hollman Sprague. He married Bessie Alta Love Nov. 24, 1949. He is survived by daughters, Kim Bozell of Columbus, IN, Pam (Larry) Williams of Columbus, IN, and Gayle (Jason) Corfman of Greenfield, IN; a granddaughter, Brittney Bozell of Columbus, IN; and sisters, Arlis Mae Sprague of Columbus, IN, and Hazel Lavern Stoughton of New Whiteland, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Kenneth Fairell "Johnnie" Sprague, Herman "Sam" Sprague, James Arthur Sprague and Orville Benjamin Sprague; and sisters, Dortha Beatrice Hall, Minnie "Helena" Sprague, Faye Iola Sipes and Norma Rose Martin. SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Monday January 23, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Ohio Chapel Cemetery
