Ronald Dean Howe, 47, of North Vernon, died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis. Ronald graduated from Columbus East High School in 1981. He then attended Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana where he graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in both English and History. He received his master's degree in history from American University in Washington, D.C. Ronald was a Peace Corp volunteer from 1986 to 1988. He was employed by Integrity Biofuels/Grammer Industries. He was a Christadelphian and attended church in Jasonville. Ronald was born Oct. 14, 1963 in Columbus, the son of Gene and Patricia Lutz Howe. He married Chariss Ellison March 9, 2002. He is survived by his father, Gene Howe of Columbus; his mother, Patricia Lutz Howe of Columbus; his wife, Chariss Ellison Howe of North Vernon; a son Isaac George Howe of North Vernon; a daughter, Beatrice Ann Howe of North Vernon; a grandmother, Chanice Sprague Lutz of Columbus; brothers, James J. (Debbie) Howe of Columbus and Michael G. (Angie) Howe of Columbus; a sister, Nancy J. (Kevin) Hall of Columbus; aunts, Roberta Risk of Columbus; uncles, Robert (Martha) Howe, Columbus and Steve (Sue) Howe, from Alabama; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by grandparents, George J. Lutz and Joseph and Hazel Howe. SERVICES: FUNERAL - 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Dean Brown and Ed Binch officiating. CALLING - 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Memorials may be made to Midwest Christadelphian Bible School, Livonia, MI or Simon Cancer Center.

  3. I served with Ron in the Peace Corps in Thailand, and I have many fond memories of him from that time. He was a smart, funny and good man. My deepest sympathy to his family in this time of sorrow.

  4. I worked with Ron at Integrity Biofuels. He was the most amazing man I have ever met. We would often have “deep” conversations about religion and life in general. He was extremely intelligent, always interested in learning more. He really touched my life in a special way. The world lost a very special individual on August 8th. I will never forget this amazing man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
