Floyd Garrett
April 23, 1926 ~ July 26, 2011
On July 26, 2011, Floyd Garrett, beloved husband, father and grandfather, was called home to be with his eternal family. Floyd was born April 23, 1926, in Madison, Indiana, to Paul and Winifred Brown Garrett. He was baptized a child of God at Wirt Baptist Church, attended Dupont Elementary School and Madison High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947. After the end of World War II, he spent 15 years in the Naval Reserves. Floyd married Beverly Welsh on September 7, 1964, and they celebrated 46 years of memories and marriage. He was employed by Force Construction until retiring in 1991. He was a 50-year member of the Carpenters Union and enjoyed watching IU basketball, NASCAR racing, fishing, western movies, listening to classic country, a good home-cooked meal and a game of euchre. Those who will miss his company and humor are Mrs. Beverly Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. Mark and Juli Garrett, grandson Tommy Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. Gary and Patty Walker and numerous friends and neighbors. Floyd was welcomed into open arms by his parents; four brothers and sisters, Charles Garrett, Lena Phillips, Edith Green and Gladys Boyd; and a grandson, Curtiss Walker. SERVICES: In keeping with his wishes, Floyd will be cremated and there will be no visitation or service. Donations may be made in celebration of Floyd's life and memory to the donor's choice of charities.

Floyd was one of the kindest and most understanding individuals that I have ever had the pleasure to have known. I can still remember flea markets, Christmas parties, and numerous gatherings where his presence, generosity, and spirit always made me feel welcome and “at home”. I certainly will always remember Floyd as a man who set an excellent example for a few rambunctious teenagers, who then grew into fine fathers themselves. So long and God speed to Floyd, our thoughts and prayers to Beverly, Mark, Julie, and Tommy.
