Daniel David DeWitt, 35, of Pendleton, formerly of Columbus, died at 8:01 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Anderson. Daniel loved writing and drawing and currently has a book being published. He loved the outdoors and had a special love for his family and friends, and especially his son. Born in Bloomington March 22, 1976, Daniel was the son of Robert G. DeWitt Jr. and Alison Quick Jones. He is survived by his father, of Columbus; his mother, Alison (Richard) Quick Jones of Mooresville; a son, Daymien Daniel DeWitt of Columbus, IN; his best friends, Robert McQueary of Taylorsville, IN, Eric Graham of Taylorsville, IN, and Justin Daily of Petersville; a grandfather, Gary Mize of Brownstown, IN; brothers, Robert G. DeWitt III of Columbus, IN, and Jonathan S. Klepper of North Carolina; aunts, Beth (Curtis) Smith of Hope, IN, Dawn Hunter of Columbus, IN, Shawn (Jody) Johnson of Columbus, IN, and Tammy (Jamie) Thixton of Columbus, IN; uncles, Joe (Roxanne) DeWitt of North Vernon, IN and Kelly (Patricia Christian) Allen of Columbus, IN; two nephews; and 18 cousins. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Judge Samuel Rosen and Robert G. DeWitt Sr.; grandmothers, Joan Rosen and Nellie Mize; an aunt; two cousins; and one nephews. FUNERAL - A private service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. CALLING - will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Daniel DeWitt Memorial Fund.

  9. I didn’t personally know Daniel, I only met him a few times thru my good friend Nikki. But I am so sorry for everyones loss. God is a amazing God that will help you all deal with this loss. I will continue to pray for the family.

  12. I knew him when I was little girl. His dad and his brother jake would come over and play with me on the swings and my dad and bobby dewitt would take us fishing we had fun. Ive been talking to jake for a while now and knew daniel was in prison but there had been no way to come see him. we shared some good memories esp younger years Ill never forget him. lifes unfair and we dont know when are time is up. It shouldnt of happened, Im sorry for everyones loss and Im praying for family and friends. I love you and Ive missed you. My dad told me about this then I called jake to comfort him. I cant make it to services I have no transportation, he’s in my heart and mind he’ll never be forgotten God love him. Your in a better place now rest in peace daniel love kanya and gary bailey

  13. Daniel was my Nephew through marriage, although it seemed odd Daniel calling me uncle Jody he was always bigger than me.Lol. So over the last ten years Daniel and I became friends. During that time he lived with my wife and I for a short period of time and I worked with Daniel for a little while. I quickly came to realize even though Daniel had made some mistakes in his life he had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back if need be. The last three years my wife Shawn and I have had the extreme pleasure of raising his son Daymien. Daniel i Know your reading this so know this i will never default on my promise to you regarding your son. Love you and miss you Bro.

  23. two months before your passing, i had to say goodbye to my mom, your aunt. I had the pleasure to speak with you the day of her passing on may 11, 2011. you told me you loved me and you were sorry that you couldnt be there for us. I was looking forward to our meeting when u got out or when i was able to come see you. I never remembered the bad stuff you did, just the positive influence you were to me. you were someone i looked up to. kinda like a brother. thats why this has been hard on me. I hope they find justice for you and day. He will need it one day to feel a sense of completeness. i see and feel you in him and its so amazing. I love you daniel.   24. The day we brought Daymien home from the hospital,,,I’ve never seen you soooo happy and so scared lol,,,,,you did amazing as a father and husband and I’m lost without you 13 years and counting
