Dale Wiley passed away at 12:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011. He was born January 30, 1912 in Morristown, the son of Mason and Lulu Miller Wiley. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil, William and Clyde; his first wife, Delpha Clary Wiley; and his second wife, Joanne Heck Wiley. He is survived by a sister, Marjorie Adams of Greenwood; Dick Wiley of Columbus [his children, Teresa (Scott) Peitsmeyer of Carmel, Douglas (Carrie) of Louisville, Ky., Alex of Denver, Colo. and Kara Wiley deceased]; Jayne (Steve) Higgins of Martinsville [their children, Herb of Indianapolis and Dr. Laura Higgins of San Francisco, Calif]. Dale was raised primarily in Shelbyville and graduated from high school there in 1931. His principal occupation was Wiley Automatic Music in Columbus, which he started in 1937 and continued until 2005. He was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as a 3rd Class Radarman on board the USS Seminole AKA 104. Funeral Information MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at the funeral home. BURIAL: A private family inurnment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery. Donations Information MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "Meals for Better Living" of Aging & Community Service of South Central Indiana or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
