Gene Long, 75, of Coffey Drive, died at 9:05 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Gene was employed at Cummins Engine Company for 37 years, retiring in 2007. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Friends on Wheels Motorcycle Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Born in Hartsville Nov. 19, 1935, Mr. Long was the son of Clarence and Jessie Marie Mix Long. He is survived by a brother, Thomas E. Long of Columbus; a sister, Lucille Story of Bean Station, TN; and a daughter, Staci Akin of Columbus.
