Irene Whalley November 15, 1922 - March 28, 2011 Irene Whalley, 88, of Columbus, died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Whalley was a 48-year member of First Lutheran Church. She retired from Vernco Corporation. Born Nov. 15, 1922, Mrs. Whalley was the daughter of John and Anne Grabowski Bednicki. She married Ed M. Whalley Sept. 21, 1945. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 2008. Surviving are daughters, Deborah (Gary) Butcher of Chicago, IL, Patricia (Damian) Lis of New York, Pamela (Jim) Whalley of Bellingham, WA, and Benita (Terry) Dean of Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Blanche Lomax. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral Information A memorial service will be conducted at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date. Donations Information Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Regional Hospital, 2400 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201, in appreciation of the outstanding care Mrs. Whalley received in the intensive care unit.
