William K. "Bill" Danforth March 12, 1933 - March 24, 2011 William K. Bill Danforth, 78, of Elizabethtown, died at 3:25 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Four Seasons Retirement Community. For twenty years Bill worked for Premier Autoware and painted model trains. His work could be found around the world. His love of trains, especially Union Pacific, took him, his son and friends out west 29 years in a row. Bill was a member of Elizabethtown Methodist Church. He was one of the founding members of Columbus Area Railroad Club, a charter member of the Union Pacific Historical Society and a past member of the Sandcreek Conservation Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Born in Elizabethtown March 12, 1933, Mr. Danforth was the son of Earl Danforth and Mary Kearney Danforth. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Edwards Danforth; and a son, Billy E. Danforth of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. CALLING: 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday. BURIAL: Springer Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. Donations Information Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Area Railroad Club.
