Richard Eugene Wood August 26, 1947 - November 08, 2010 Richard Eugene Wood, 63, of Thicket Court, died at 10:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Richard was a Christian and was affiliated with the Hope House of Prayer. He graduated from Hope High School, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the maintenance department at Cummins Engine Company in 2006 after 31 years of service. Richard was very proud that he helped raise three families. He loved dancing and going to the casino and was an avid colts fan. Born in Bartholomew County Aug. 26, 1947, Mr. Wood was the son of Milo S. and Elsie Pope Wood. He married Dianne Bennett Oct. 31, 2009. She survives. Also surviving are sons, Michael Castetter and Jeffrey Castetter, both of North Vernon, Christopher Castetter of Greenfield, Shannon Wood of Indianapolis, Mathew Winter of North Vernon, Richard Andrew Wood of Columbus and Travis Dickey of Columbus; daughters, Sonya Mae Fennimore of New York and Cathy Dickey of Columbus; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Roscoe Wood of Columbus; and a sister, Florence Boyd of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Loren F. Wood Funeral Information FUNERAL: 4 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with military rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. VISITATION: 1 p.m. until service time Friday. There will be no burial, cremation is planned.
