Wendell G. "Wimpy" James April 25, 1941 - September 18, 2010 Wendell G. Wimpy James, 69, of Seymour, died at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Mr. James was born in Glasgow, Ky. on April 25, 1941, the son of Venus and Goldie Medley James. Mr. James was previously employed by Barnabys Flower Shop, Barkes & Inlow Funeral Home and Jay C Food Store. He helped establish several new stores in Kentucky for Houchens Food Chain. He was also employed by Dolly Madison and Wonder Bread for several years. Mr. James was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an honorary employee of Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Mr. James is survived by his former wife, Wanda f. Jaggers, his companion, Judy Burton of Taylorsville; sons, Vince E. (Ann) James and Terry L. (Teisha) James, both of Columbus; a daughter, Joy F. (Steve) Allman of Columbus; grandchildren, Tyler J. Flickinger, Whitney F. Browning, Nicholas L. James, Elizabeth E. James, Joshua James Willey, Lauryn O. James, Tara N. James, Taylor A. James and Blaine A. Allman; great-grandsons, Landon Flickinger and Krew Flickinger; brothers, Billy Jo James of Glasgow, Ky., Bobby Lee James of Columbus, Albert Wayne James of Glasgow, Ky. and Donald James of Glasgow, Ky.; and sisters, Betty M. Miller of Indianapolis and Nellie M. James of Glasgow, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Maggalene Elmore, Dorothy Estes, Lougene Clark, Katheline Chambers and Melinda James. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Allman officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday. BURIAL: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
