Robert George Reed January 05, 1937 - April 05, 2010 Robert George Bob Reed, 73, stepped into Glory on Monday, April 5, 2010, just before midnight. He passed away peacefully at his home after his battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Nadine Reed of Elizabethtown, a daughter, a son-in-law and three grandchildren, Shannon, Ted, Elizabeth, Abby, and Noah McFall, all of Scipio. Bob was born January 5, 1937, to Morris and Opal Reed. He grew up in and around Bartholomew County. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1955. He married Nadine Sharp, daughter of Ozzy and Ruby Sharp, on August 27, 1960, and shared his life with her for over 49 years. Bob was assistant pastor of Browns Corner Chapel for many years. He was an active member and served as song leader, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He attended both IU and Purdue University. He also served nine years in the National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. After working at Cummins for 29 years, Robert retired as Director of Corporate Facilities in 1988 and pursued other business interest. He was employed as a private business consultant in addition to working in the excavating field with his son-in-law. Bob was quick to lend a hand and willing to pray for you. His hobbies included reading, bowling and mushroom hunting. He also liked traveling. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family. His most recent adventure was parasailing at the age of 72. Bob was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his brother, Ralph, and an infant sister. Funeral Information FUNERAL: A Celebration of Bobs Life will take place at Browns Corner Chapel Church near Scipio on Thursday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. VISITATION: Wednesday, April 7, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
