Harry W. Breeden July 10, 1927 - August 24, 2009 Harry W. Breeden, 82, of Holly Way died at 11:10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Breeden was a surgical technician in the Army during World War II. He graduated from Indiana University, with a masters degree in education, and started teaching in a little two-room school at Ridott, Ill., where he held a principalship. He then moved to Columbus to teach at State Street Elementary School. Upon the opening of McDowell Elementary, he started teaching there. Once McDowell was changed to an adult education facility, he transferred to Taylorsville Elementary, retiring from there in 1989. Also a builder and architect, Mr. Breeden owned and operated a building company in Columbus for many years. Mr. Breeden was born in Farmersburg July 10, 1927, the son of A.E. and Lora Mildred Wolfe Breeden. His wife, Sarah Lou Szatkowski Breeden, preceded him in death. He is survived by sons, Randall Breeden of Denver, Colo., Brent Breeden of Columbus and Brad (Barb) Breeden of Columbus; daughters, Deborah Wolfe of Columbus and Rebecca (Doug) Croucher of Hope; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Tower of Greenwood; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a son, Bruce Breeden. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Myers officiating. VISITATION: 10 a.m.until service time Thursday.
