Ruth Minor Shorter August 12, 2009 Ruth Minor Shorter, 81, of Columbus, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus, IN. She was born in Shelbyville, IN, April 9, 1928, the daughter of Forrest and Julia Friday Henderson. She was employed at Cummins Engine Company for 23 years before taking early retirement. She was a member of the OCU. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, sometimes on three different leagues at the same time. She loved sewing, crafts, gardening, her many pets, traveling, ballroom dancing and greeting all the customers who came into the Yellow Brick Road to shop. She was so loved and will be sadly missed. Ruth was married to Raymond Minor of Columbus in 1947. They were married 25 years. In 1975 she married Harold Shorter of Mooresville, IN. He preceded her in death in 1998. Besides her late husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Henderson of Kokomo, IN, and her nephew, Chuck Henderson. Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Bower of Columbus; a stepson, Don (Kriss) Shorter of Spencer, IN; a granddaughter, Nicole (Mel) Woodard of Columbus; a grandson, Grant (Susan) Shorter of Spencer, IN; and three great-grandsons, Jacob, Logan and Johnathan. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Cremation will follow the service. VISITATION: Will be from noon until service time on Saturday.
