Dorothy L. England March 27, 1924 - July 21, 2009 Dorothy L. England, 85, of Waycross Drive died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. England, a member of Lowell General Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing and spending time with her pet bird, Bird. She also enjoyed spending time at church and loved for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to visit. Born in Metcalfe County, Ky., March 27, 1924, Mrs. England was the daughter of M.T. and Mary Lannie England Jessie. She married Charles M. England Aug. 14, 1943. He preceded her in death June 20, 2007. Survivors include sons, Don (Ann) England of South Daytona, Fla., and Randall W. Jessie of Columbus; daughters, Joyce (Dallas) Spencer of Columbus and Gail (Marvin) Root of Columbus; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Brenda) Jessie of Columbus and Maxie Jessie of Edmonton, Ky.; and sisters, Norma (Homer) Bennett and Annie England, both of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Charles Wayne England Sr.; a daughter, Peggy Sue Rogers; granddaughters, Tiffany L. Brumett and Marla Gail Root; great-grandsons, Chris Pearl and Kevin Jasper; brothers, Hubert and Henry Jessie; and sisters, Betty Turner, Louella Scroughan, Francis Whittingburg, Mageline Gibson and Rosa Mae Knapp. Funeral Information VISITATION: Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home and also Friday, July 24, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lowell General Baptist Church. FUNERAL: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Lowell General Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating.
