Leonard R. DeClue October 31, 1922 - June 22, 2009 Leonard R. DeClue passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope. He was 86. Leonard was a World War II veteran, stationed for some time at Camp Atterbury. He was a successful businessman as the former owner of Production Sales and Engineering and Heavern Machinery. He was a charter member of the Columbus chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. A farm boy at heart, Leonard also farmed more than 350 acres. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Parish and a former member of the first parish council at St. Bartholomew. He was also a member of the American Legion. With only an eighth-grade education, Leonard was most proud that all of his children graduated college. Born Oct. 31, 1922 in Potosi, Mo., Leonard was the son of Stephen Eli and Mary Josephine DeClue. He was the second youngest of 12 children. He came from Missouri to Indiana while in the Army. He married Martha Jane Dahn on August 21, 1946. Survivors include his wife, Martha; a brother, Ed DeClue of Festus, Mo.; three sisters, Ann Short of Potosi, Mo., Doreen Crump of St. Louis, Mo., and Mildred Klaus of Festus, Mo.; children, Dorothy (Wayne) Lore of Potosi, Mo., Curt (Anne) DeClue of Seattle, Wash., Kathy (Michael) Schubel, Linda DeClue, Kim (Elaine) DeClue, Sue DeClue, Carey (Michael) McBride and Amy (Jim) Powell, all of Columbus; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Information VISITATION: Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, June 26, 2009 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Joseph McNally officiating.
