Harriet L. Brown August 19, 1927 - April 17, 2009 Harriet L. Brown, 81, of Timbercrest Drive died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Brown was a 1946 graduate of Columbus High School and a member of Ladies of the Elk, Ladies of the Moose and Bartholomew County Senior Center. A gifted singer, she sang with the Four Freshmen before they gained national popularity. She was of the Christian faith, was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with her grandchild and great-grandchild. Born in Columbus Aug. 19, 1927, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of Harry LaRue and Helen L. Losey LaRue Prather. She first married Robert L. Galbraith. On Jan. 7, 1971, she married Chester P. Brown Jr. He preceded her in death March 16, 1991. Survivors include a son, Mark (Karen) Galbraith of Cookeville, Tenn.; a daughter, Karen (Lonnie) Williams of Columbus; stepdaughters, Toni Gaskill and Tana Spinks, both of Florida; a granddaughter, Jamie Hill of Columbus; and a great-grandson, Avery Hill of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral Information VISITATION: Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday. FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Dillingham officiating. BURIAL: Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
