Edward M. Whalley April 17, 1923 - December 26, 2008 Ed M. Whalley, 85, of Columbus, Ind. died at 1:55 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Ed was a professional industrial engineer with a 40-year career at Borg-Warner in the Cleveland, OH, area and Reliance Electric of Columbus. He was an active member of the Society of Professional Engineers. Ed did extensive charity volunteer work including Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Columbus. Mr. Whalley was born April 17, 1923 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the son of Edward and Helen Waite Whalley. He married Irene M. Bendick in 1945. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Deborah (Gary) Butcher of Chicago, Ill., Patricia (Damian) Lis of New York; Pamela (Jim) Hedrick of Bellingham, Wash. and Benita (Terry) Dean of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.. Funeral Information MEMORIAL SERVICE: Will be conducted Saturday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Pastor John F. Hawkins and Pastor Edward Boone officiating.
