Clarence Ed "Bub" Welch August 10, 1915 - November 13, 2008 Clarence Ed Bub Welch, 93, a life-long resident of Geneva Township in Jennings County, passed away peacefully at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Mr. Welch retired in 1977 from Cummins, Inc., after being employed there for 27 years. He was also retired from farming. A member of Reddington Christian Church, he had been faithfully attending and supporting Browns Corner Chapel near his home for many years. He was a caring person who always had candy and other treats in his home for visitors, called on shut-ins regularly and remembered birthdays by sending cards. He especially enjoyed mowing his grass, raising melons, hunting and fishing. Born August 10, 1915, in Jennings County, Mr. Welch was the son of John Edward and Myrtle Nichalson Welch. He married Mary Taylor on February 26, 1939, in Jeffersonville. Surviving are a son, Joseph E. (Bonita) Welch of Scipio; two daughters, Janet (John) Jones of Scipio and Marylynne (Donald) Sharp of Reddington; six grandchildren, Tony Welch, Darren Welch and Alan (Yukyong) Welch of Indianapolis, Rick (Kathy) Jones and Anita (Ben) Austin of Scipio and Sandi (Greg) Hahn of North Vernon; 11 great-grandchildren, Will Welch, Jonathan Welch, Anna Swenson, Alex Robbins, Amy Robbins, Stephanie (Dave) Kemery, Samantha (Patrick) Wilderman, Courtney Hahn, Justin Austin, Jordyn Austin and Matthew Austin; a great-great-granddaughter, Abigail Dawn Kemery; a sister and brother-in-law, Lulu Mae and O.E. McAnally of Coyle, Okla; two nephews, John E. Welch of Columbus and James E. Welch of Plainfield; three nieces, Bonnie Johnston of Tulsa, Okla., Marlene McAnally of Coyle and Beverly Roden of Chelsea, Okla.; and three sisters-in-law, Pauline Stanfield of Elizabethtown, Cindy Crist of Heath, Ohio and Carol Taylor of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his wife, on May 22, 2001; a grandson, David Brent Welch; a brother, Garnet Earl Welch; a nephew, Robert E. Welch; and a niece, Martha Ann Harvey. Funeral Information VISITATION: Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday November 17, 2008 at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, at Browns Corner Chapel with Robert G. Reed, assistant pastor of the church, officiating.
