William S. "Bill" Lord June 14, 1939 - December 23, 2007 William S. Bill Lord, 68, of Four Mile Ridge Rd., Nashville, Ind., died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 12:53 a.m. at his home. Bill spent most of his teen years at his beloved Grandmothers house in Amherst, Maine, where he loved spending time at his grandfathers rustic hunting camp at Dutton Pond. He graduated from Brewer, Maine High School in 1957 and shortly thereafter moved to Columbus, Ind. He loved the state of Maine and returned there every year for hunting and fishing trips with friends and family. The woods was where he was most happy. He also was an avid motorcycle rider, belonging to the Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club since 1989. He enjoyed riding enduros, hare scrambles, duel sport rides, and road trips with his wife on his Gold Wing. He was a wonderful family man, teaching his children everything he could, helping them in every way he could. He was the most loving husband and friend, and was respected by everyone who knew him. Bill was employed at Cummins Engine Company for 33 years, 13 of those at the Jamestown Engine Plant in Jamestown, N.Y. He returned to Columbus in 1989 and retired in 1992. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Masonic Lodge No. 100 in Edinburgh, the American Legion, Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, Sportsmans Alliance of Maine, the Moose Lodge, and the American Motorcycle Association. Mr. Lord was born June 14, 1939 in Bangor, Maine, the son of Karl Elmer Salisbury and Blanche Young Turner. He married Neola J. Williams June 18, 1965. Survivors include his wife; sons, Dirk Eugene (Shirl) Lord of Newark, Del. and William Darin (Kay) Lord of Columbus, Ind.; daughters, Toni D. (Jim) Taylor of Columbus, Ind. and Valerie (Tim) Lord Girse of Fenton, Mo.; grandchildren, Megan Marie Lord and Ryan Christopher Lord; stepsiblings, Cindy Hopkins and Morris Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus. VISITATION: Will be Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. BURIAL: Will be at St. Pauls Methodist Cemetery at Ogilville.
