Shirley A. Hollenbeck May 17, 1925 - December 10, 2007 Shirley A. Hollenbeck, 82, of 25th Street, a resident of Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center the past year, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A lifelong resident of Columbus, Mrs. Hollenbeck was a graduate of Columbus High School and worked in the family store, Owens Food Market at 17th and Elm streets. She retired from Columbus Wholesale Grocery and also had worked at Newsom Industries. She and her husband were actively involved in youth sports at the Boys Club and played an active role in raising funds to build the gymnasium at Columbus High School where she supported athletics from the 1950s through the early 1970s. She also was an active supporter of Columbus Fire Department and other emergency services and several firemen enjoyed the baked goods she provided. Mrs. Hollenbeck was a member of First Christian Church, enjoyed her dogs and was an avid bird watcher. Born in Columbus May 17, 1925, Mrs. Hollenbeck was the daughter of Horace and Mary Snively Owens. She married Robert D. Hollenbeck Sept. 19, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1977. She is survived by sons, Steve (Joanne) Hollenbeck of Edinburgh and Doug (Pam) Hollenbeck of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Information VISITATION: Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday,December 12, 2007 and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Alan White officiating. BURIAL: Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
