Marybelle K. Gossman October 10, 1914 - November 14, 2007 Marybelle K. Gossman, 93, of Taylor Road died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Four Seasons Retirement Center. Mrs. Gossman was born in Columbus and lived here her entire life. She attended St. Peters Lutheran School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1932. She retired in 1980 from The Republic which was known as The Evening Republican when she began working there. A member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, she had been a Sunday school teacher, a member of Womens Missionary League, editor of the LWML newsletter, and a volunteer in many church activities, including the tape ministry for shut-ins. She also was coordinator of the weekly church bulletin for more than 20 years. She was a volunteer and administrator with Meals on Wheels and a volunteer at the Visitors Center where she was named Volunteer of the Year. She was a former member of Greenbelt Golf Club and Otter Creek Ladies Golf Club. Born Oct. 10, 1914, Mrs. Gossman was the daughter of John Lester and Elna C. Schoessel Myers. She married Carl Gossman Oct. 5, 1940. She is survived by a son, David Alan (Donna) Gossman of Kokomo; daughters, Carol A. Young of Columbus, Marilou (Frank Stavroff) Bleecker of Dublin, Ohio, and Barbara Kay (Bernard) Fairwood of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; a brother, John L. (Donna) Myers Jr. of King City, Calif.; grandchildren, Christie Crippen, Terri Newkirk, Brian Fairwood, Brenda Lachuga, Dina Bleecker, Ali Bleecker, Bonnie Gamble, Keith Gossman and Kyle Gossman and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl on Feb. 11, 1993; and a brother, William F. Myers. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating. VISITATION: 10 a.m. until service time Monday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church Building Fund or the donors choice of charities.
