Thomas Anton Sand January 19, 1938 - May 11, 2007 Thomas Anton Sand, 69, of Central Avenue, Columbus, Ind., died Friday, May 11, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at his home. Born in Brush, Colo. and raised in Denver, Colo., Tom came to Indiana in 1956 after discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1955. He worked at Coca-Cola from 1961 to 1966 and then was employed at Cummins Engine from 1966 until he retired in 1996. He was employed at Quinco from November 1998 until 2000. He was on the Cummins Emergency Response Team for 16 years and the Bartholomew County Search and Rescue Response Team, and was a Boy Scout leader from 1962 to 1972. Mr. Sand was a member of Seventh Street Church of God. He enjoyed auto racing, street rods and his 1940 Ford pickup. He also enjoyed camping and firearms. Mr. Sand was born January 19, 1938 in Brush, Colo., the son of Charles A. and Sarah Elizabeth Chapman Sand. He married Sharon Gay Taylor on Sept. 15, 1979. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Hayward Sand of Columbus, Ind.; daughters, Debra L. Barlow of Florida and Angela A. Bridges of Columbus, Ind.; grandchildren, Jessica Barlow of Columbus, Ind., Thomas Ray Sand of Iowa, Talisa Cloyed of Iowa, Adam Barlow of Florida, Trisha Sand of Iowa, Sarah Barlow of Florida, Dyalan Bridges of Columbus, Ind. and Anthony Bridges of Columbus, Ind.; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Edward Sand of Colorado. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jerry Ballard. VISITATION: Monday, May 14, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
