Harold Lee Fisher November 02, 1957 - February 27, 2007 Harold L. "Lee" Fisher Jr., 49, of Driftwood Avenue died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in Columbus. Mr. Fisher was an Engineer and a 1984 graduate of Purdue University School of Engineering where he was president of the Purdue Gun Club, and was named to the NRA All American Inter-Collegiate Pistol Squad. Fisher was invited to try out for the U.S. Olympic rifle and pistol team in 1984. He was Vice President of the International Shooting Program for International State Rifle and Pistol; was a member of the NRA and SASS (Single Action Shooting Society); and was a member of the Hoosier Hills Rifle and Pistol Club where he initiated the Junior Air Gun Program. Fisher was an avid racing enthusiast who raced go-karts at the 4-H Fairgrounds for many years, as well as sprint karts and enduros throughout the Midwest. He was Manager of Cummins Engine Company's Motor Sports Programs for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, Craftsman Truck Series and Indy Car Series. Fisher was also a member of the Louis Schweitzer committee, which determines the annual Louis Schweitzer Award for innovation and excellence in the field of racecar design for the Indianapolis 500. Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, South America, Mr. Fisher was the son of Harold Fisher Sr. and Melania Fisher Ibarra. He married Mary Gilpin June 25, 1977. Survivors include his wife; his mother, of Columbus; daughters, Katy Fisher of Indianapolis and Allison Fisher of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Bill (Samantha) Fisher of Los Angeles, Calif.; and sisters, Dianne (Scott) Fisher Einhorn of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Barbara Fisher of Carmel. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Fisher Sr. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy Armstrong officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. BURIAL: A private committal service will be held at a later date.
