Darlene Joyce Forney January 22, 1936 - February 09, 2007 Darlene Joyce Forney, 71, of Hughes Street, Columbus, Ind., died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2007, at her home. Darlene worked at the Trafalgar Canning Factory in her early years. She made and decorated wedding cakes. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, cross-stitching, gardening and canning. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and was an exceptional wife and mother. She was well loved and will be missed by all who knew her as Granny. Mrs. Forney was born January 22, 1936, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Olie Gale Carter and Mary Hazel Rutan Carter. She married David Keith Forney on May 28, 1954. Survivors include her husband, of Columbus, Ind.; sons, David Lee (Heidi) Forney of Hartsville, Ind., Dennis Keith (Melinda) Forney of Columbus, Ind. and Phillip Jason Forney (Sarah Darnell) of Columbus, Ind.; a daughter, Lisa Kay (Kent) Neeb of Shelbyville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dwaynn (Clara) Carter of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Olie Gale Carter; her mother, Mary Hazel Rutan Carter; brothers, Victor Carter and Byron Carter; and sisters, Helen Thacker and Violet Hovious. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be Monday, February 12, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with Ed Fryman officiating. VISITATION: Sunday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
