Thelma Jewel Crippen March 15, 1932 - November 14, 2006 Thelma Jewel Crippen, 74, of Parkway Drive died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs. Crippen retired from Ventra Corp. and was a member of Basil Baptist Church in Barren County, Ky. She attended Elizabethtown Christian Church and liked to dance, play board games, collect ceramic turtles, travel on vacation and spend time with her husband, daughters and family. Born in Glasgow, Ky., March 15, 1932, Mrs. Crippen was the daughter of James Logan Brown and Sally Mae Bowles Brown. She married Charles S. Crippen June 5, 1954, in Columbus. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Sally Philyaw and Susan (Ted) Darnell, both of Columbus; brothers, Gene (Darla) Brown of Columbus and Edward Brown of Taylorsville; granddaughters, Jennifer Hillen and Sadie Darnell, both of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Philyaw, Christina Hillen and Christopher Daniel. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eloise Bryant; brothers, Elton Leo Brown, Roy Brown and Jessie Brown; 13 other brothers and sisters; seven half brothers; and a granddaughter, Melissa Gail Philyaw Daniel. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.
