Marie Polley December 31, 1908 - June 13, 2006 Marie Polley, 97, of Columbus died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Marie lived her early life in Monroe County but lived most of her life in Bartholomew County. She was employed by Bartholomew County School Corp. at Parkside Elementary School Cafeteria and as manager of Jefferson School cafeteria, retiring in 1973. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for over 70 years, was a member of the Nazarene Quilting Circle, making quilts for missionaries, helped make dinners and meals at the church for various occasions and was a member of Missions Book Society. She enjoyed cooking, canning and quilting. Born in Bloomington Dec. 31, 1908, Mrs. Polley was the daughter of Frank E. and Carolyn Flynn Duncan. She married Russell Polley June 20, 1933. He preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1989. Surviving are sons, Richard M. (Judy) Polley and Ron D. Polley, both of Columbus, and Phillip A. (Janet) Polley of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Janet S. (Robert) Hill of Columbus; sisters, Dorothy Merritt of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Phyllis Johnson of Bloomington; grandchildren, Deborah Ann Hill Hammel, Gregory Wayne Hill, Cynthia Sue Hill Meredith, Mark Robert Hill, Michelle Ann Polley Pruitt, Melinda Gayle Polley Webb, Kara Marie Polley Fields and Darrell Phillip Polley; great-grandchildren, Grant Pruitt, Devin Pruitt, Olivia Webb,Paige Webb, Tyler Fields, Julia Fields, Adriane Polley, Evan Polley, Nathanael Polley, Nicole Hammel, Jenna Epkey, Brooke Hoover, Stephanie Hill, Joshua Meredith, Jared Meredith, Zachary Meredith and Danton Harris; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by great-grandchildren, Jeremy Philip Hammel and Colin Robert Hill; sisters, Tinza Duncan Turner Lanz, Christina Duncan Thomas, Nancy Florence Duncan Bales and Ersa Duncan Sciscoe; and brothers, Gilbert Oscar Duncan, Paul Roger Duncan, Orville Edward Duncan, Frank Elmer Junior Duncan and Russell Bud Duncan. Funeral Information VISITATION: Will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday June 16,2006 and from noon until service time Saturday FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Muncie and Bryan Solomon officiating. Marie Polley, 97, of Columbus died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
Marie lived her early life in Monroe County but lived most of her life in Bartholomew County. She was employed by Bartholomew County School Corp. at Parkside Elementary School Cafeteria and as manager of Jefferson School cafeteria, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for over 70 years, was a member of the Nazarene Quilting Circle, making quilts for missionaries, helped make dinners and meals at the church for various occasions and was a member of Missions Book Society.
