October 7, 1928 ~ June 17, 2019

Josephine B. DiGiovanni, 90, of East State Street, died at 5:30 a.m. June 13, 2019, at her home. Josephine was born October 7, 1928, in Trenton, New Jersey, the daughter of Louis and Anna Fontana Scrivano.  Her parents came to America as children with their parents from Italy through Ellis Island settling in Manhattan, New York. She was one of nine children in a large Italian family. She met and married Nicholas A. DiGiovanni, a Navy veteran, while they were both working at a Manhattan hospital. They were married December 29, 1951, and together they raised five children. Josephine was passionate about her family. She was an amazing wife and mother; and boy, could she cook! She found joy through all that she accomplished. She held many titles in her life, but most important to her were the children’s lives she touched and they to her. We will be forever blessed by her kind and compassionate spirit. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Deacon Russ Woodard officiating. Calling will be 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Survivors include her sons, Nichols DiGiovanni of LaCriscenta, California, and Anthony DiGiovanni and John DiGiovanni, both of Columbus and daughters, Anna (Randy) Scudder of Columbus and Gina DiGiovanni of Staten Island, New York; sisters, Geraldine (Vinnie) Casablanca and Marlene Valeriote; grandchildren, Tonilynn (Herlen) Harman, Danny (Kylee) Harman, Stephanie Harman, Samantha (Ezekiel) Tyger, John DiGiovanni, Erin DiGiovanni, Elijah DiGiovanni, Nicole Abruzzi and Jennifer Grogen Lindenberg; and great-grandchildren, Kameron A.
