Doris M. Mayes

Doris M. Mayes, 96, of Taylorsville, died at 4:34 p.m. September 1, 2019, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Doris was born August 10, 1923, in Scipio, the daughter of William and Rose Shatto Heitz. She married Bennie L. Burton and he preceded her in death. She then married Charles Mayes and, he too, preceded her in death. Doris was loved by her many friends. A memorial service will be conducted graveside at 1 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019, at Garland Brook Cemetery, Sec 76 with Pastor Adam Carrigan officiating. She will be laid to rest after the service. Survivors include her sons, Roy (Darlene) Burton of Columbus, Terry (Brenda) Burton of Arnold, Missouri, and Steven (Pat) Burton and Kevin Burton, both of Taylorsville and daughters, Sue Mevissen of Nevada and Pam (Dennis) Brummett of Brownsburg; a sister, Marjorie Turner of Scipio; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Bennie and Charles.
